HIPAA Project Management

Robert Bergin, Project Director
Theresa Woodward, Asst. Project Manager

The HIPAA Project Management Team (HPMT), housed in the Department of Job and Family Services, has the primary responsibility to coordinate the activities among thirteen state agencies in the implementation of HIPAA. The Governor's Office sponsored an Engagement Management Structure for the Statewide HIPAA Project that includes agencies impacted by HIPAA's requirements. The goal of the Project is to develop a uniform interpretation of HIPAA law and rules, and standard tools for the agencies and their affiliates. The HPMT staffs the Deputy Director's Project Management Team, co-chairs the Business Partner's Committee, participates on the Technical Partners Committee, and coordinates five statewide workgroups: Security; Privacy; Code Sets; Contracts, Agreements and Legal; and Education implemented under the Project.
