The HIPAA Privacy Law Matrix was developed by The Ohio State Medical Association and The Ohio State Bar Association Health Law Committee. It compares the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy rule with privacy requirements in Ohio law. Under HIPAA, contrary state law remains in effect only if it is more stringent than the HIPAA privacy requirements. Therefore, this matrix is intended to identify where Ohio law meets, exceeds or does not meet the HIPAA privacy requirements. We invite you to review the matrix and submit any comments you have to Nancy Gillette via e-mail gillette@osma.org by August 31, 2002.
